My images are reminiscence of my own imagination and are portrayed through interior spaces that we live in each day. My body of work introduces a surreal atmosphere that displays a whimsical uncertainty. Objects such as pillows and sheets become mountains and trees, while empty walls bring in the waves of the ocean. The images I create embodies a surreal reality that is intended to mimic or reminisce dreams.
Furthermore, my body of work is drawn on large paper with charcoal or oil on canvas. The mediums both express soft and fading atmosphere qualities that dreams embody. The fragility of the charcoal dust blurs the lines between reality and dreams mimicking the uncertainty of the dreams themselves. Each piece that I create has been adjusted numerous times, due to the delicacy of charcoal dust, and the consuming time of oil paint drying. Comparably, dreams are fragile and hold no certain form. Dreams are uncertain; constantly changing, and hard to remember.
In essence, my work expresses an unrestricted perception of the reality we live in. The body of work I create is to not portray a simple dream, but to explore the various ways dreams can change, and how easily they can be forgotten.
